Carly Straus

Special Projects Coordinator

Social justice seeker. New York Times addict. Extreme extrovert. Desert ex-pat. Sunshine hiker, rainy day yogi. Wicked wit.

Carly Straus is Third Plateau’s Special Projects Coordinator. In this role, she engages a community of stakeholders to help drive the firm’s complex network and coalition projects.

Carly joins Third Plateau with a background in philanthropy, public health, and community development. Most recently, she worked at Metta Fund, where she supported the foundation’s public health and older adult grantmaking program. Prior to that, she was on the finance and operations team at Neighborhood Funders Group, a social justice funder network. She also worked at two community development institutions: Local Initiatives Support Corporation, where she interned with their national policy team, and Beneficial State Bank and Foundation in Oakland, where she helped develop a major grant proposal. She currently serves on the Bay Area steering committee for Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy, a network committed to giving the next generation of foundation professionals the tools and relationships they need to succeed.

Carly is a native Californian who spent too many years in Arizona, and has spent the last seven years thrilled to be back in the Bay. She enjoys hiking, cooking, practicing Spanish, hanging out with her family (especially the dog), and exploring her wonderful home state.
