Elena CabotStrategy Associate
Mindful Globetrotter. Empathetic Humanitarian. Bi-coastal Franco-American. Haribo Enthusiast. Stops to smell the flowers.
Elena Cabot joined Third Plateau as a Strategy Associate and comes to us with a myriad of experiences. She received her B.A. in International Development from McGill University in Montreal. It was there – during a seminar on Social Entrepreneurship – that she discovered her North Star and imagined a life leading meaningful social impact. A semester at the Bellairs Research Institute and the University of the West Indies in Barbados exposed her to international field studies in a wide range of agri-food-energy industries and related local socio-economic issues. At McGill, she was the captain and president of the Women’s Lacrosse Club Team and an active member of the outreach team for a club focusing on Mental Health Awareness among the student body. Elena also interned with LifeMoves, a Bay Area homeless shelter network organization, where she spearheaded the creation of a Disaster Preparedness Manual for the HQ and each of its 13 sites. Most recently, Elena worked as an Executive Assistant at a VC firm in Menlo Park. Her work there provided a fascinating lens into the start-up and finance worlds — but wanting to expand her experience, she took a year off to live in Madrid, teach English, and fall in love with Spain and its beautiful culture.
Prompted in part by the global pandemic, she began working with an Austrian-based NGO (Echo100Plus), working with asylum-seekers and refugees on the Greek island of Leros, where she organized non-food item distributions in the camp, ran fundraising initiatives, taught English as a Second Language, and consumed copious quantities of fresh feta.
When she is not indulging her career passions, you can find Elena skiing or watching reruns of The Office. She loves travel most of all whether it is city-hopping abroad or backpacking the California landscapes. She is especially passionate about the climate crisis, mental health awareness, and humanitarian work. She also loves practicing yoga, a good trivia night, and playing fetch with her dog (Theo) at the beach.
