Ellen Kimball (she/her) is a Director at Third Plateau, where she works with clients across the social sector to answer big questions and deepen their impact. She joins Third Plateau with experience in youth development, facilitation and training, systems optimization, impact evaluation, and education.
Ellen earned her MBA at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, where she focused on social impact strategy and leadership. She served as co-chair of the Race Inclusion Initiative, a student consulting group that advises the Haas administration on how to improve racial inclusion on campus.
Prior to joining Third Plateau, Ellen spent five years working at Year Up, a national workforce development nonprofit, where she held a variety of roles in operations, admissions, and program management. Most recently, Ellen served as Director of Student Success and oversaw program quality for the Bay Area’s four locations. She also established a mindfulness training program for Year Up students to integrate practices from mindfulness to cope with stress and trauma. While at Year Up, Ellen became passionate about and sought out trainings in coaching, facilitation, and motivational interviewing.
Before joining Year Up, Ellen lived in Germany for two years where she was a Fulbright fellow and studied linguistics in Berlin. Ellen lives in western Sonoma County among the redwoods. She enjoys travel, hiking with her dog, kayaking the Russian River, playing board games with friends, trying out new breweries, and reading fiction.
