Lance Bitner-Laird

Research Associate

Good fighter. Big ideator. Paid overthinker. Dataviz tinkerer. Policy futurist. Radical humanist.

Lance Bitner-Laird is a Research Associate at Third Plateau, where he supports our research team across lines of business to help our clients understand their landscapes, markets, and make data-informed strategic decisions. His research interests lie in the intersection of evidence, justice, and social change. Prior to Third Plateau, he worked for Mathematica to use data to illuminate pathways to progress for a host of public and social sector clients. His work has explored equitable vaccine distribution, social-emotional learning and motivation, systems change, competency-based education, gender equity in the workplace, private domestic infant adoption, adult basic education, homeless veteran reintegration, and welfare-to-work interventions.

Lance lives in Chicago where he enjoys long hikes through the urban jungle, roller skating down the lakefront, and nights out with friends in Chicago’s Proudest Neighborhood. Most nights, you can find him defying gravity by lifting heavy objects and setting them back down again at his local gym. He enjoys traveling, adventures big and small, and any and all exploration of this pale blue dot we all call home.

He holds a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor.
